The Idea Behind Elmwood
A lot of urns feel very formal.
They serve an important purpose, but they don’t always feel easy to place in a normal home.
Elmwood came from wanting something simpler.
A piece that feels calm, considered, and easy to keep close.
That’s the idea behind what we make.
Frequently asked questions
What are Elmwood urns made from?
Elmwood urns are made from a matte, plant-based composite chosen for its clean finish, lightweight feel, and modern appearance.
Our Sand Wood and Ebony Wood finishes include fine wood fibers, giving them a warmer, lightly textured surface. The other colors have a smooth matte finish.
What are Elmwood urns made from?
Our urns are 3D printed using a carefully selected matte composite material chosen for its clean finish, lightweight feel, and modern appearance. Because each piece is made through an additive printing process, subtle layer lines or small surface variations may be visible up close.
Some finishes, such as Sand Wood and Ebony Wood, also incorporate natural wood fibres for a warmer, lightly textured surface.
Do you offer free shipping?
Yes. Shipping is free on all orders within Canada and the United States.
How long does production take?
Each urn is made to order. Most pieces are produced, inspected, and prepared for shipping within 1 to 2 business days.
How long does delivery take?
Most orders arrive within 3 to 5 business days, depending on your location.
Do you accept returns?
Yes. We offer returns and exchanges within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked.
Just send us a simple email and we’ll provide a pre-paid return shipping label. No forms or complicated steps.
We only ask that the urn has not been used and is returned in its original condition.
How do I choose the right urn size?
A general rule is that 1 lb of body weight requires about 1 cubic inch of urn capacity.
For example, a person who weighed around 150 lb would usually need an urn with at least 150 cubic inches of capacity. If you are unsure, we recommend choosing the next size up.
You can also contact us before ordering and we’ll help you choose the right size.
How do I transfer the remains into the urn?
Most funeral homes or crematoriums can help transfer the remains into the urn for you.
If you prefer to do it yourself, cremated remains are usually provided in a sealed plastic bag. In most cases, that bag can be placed directly inside the urn without being opened.
Does the urn lock or seal?
Each urn is designed with a secure fitted lid.
For a permanent seal, you may apply a small amount of adhesive to the lid before closing it for the final time. A funeral home can also help with this step if you prefer.
How do I care for the urn?
Use a soft, dry cloth to gently remove dust.
For light cleaning, use a slightly damp cloth with water. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents, as they may affect the matte finish.
We recommend keeping the urn indoors and away from prolonged direct sunlight or high heat.
